Grateful Moments

I am grateful for my child, for the gift of a good husband. He has been supportive. I am grateful to God for blessing for his work. I am grateful for my husband’s health too. He was sick at some point but I thank God for healing.

Biggest Highlight of the year

For this particular year, my highlight is the birthing of my child. I saw God’s hand and mercy. God came through for us as a family.

On Overcoming Challenges Faced In The Year

My pregnancy season was my biggest challenge. When I discovered I was pregnant, the first doctor we consulted was Dr Simi, Pastor Victor’s wife. She lives an active lifestyle but she made out time for us. She gave us the advice needed per stage.

She made herself so accessible and available. She would always respond to our calls and texts with speed. This was so helpful for me as a first-time mom with a lot of questions.

I remember Pastor Seyi Agun. She would come around to check on me, and ask about my wellbeing. Rhema Gideon Taiwo was there for me too. She was a few months ahead of me in the pregnancy journey and talking to her was like getting past questions to an exam.

Sycamore community made the journey so interesting and enjoyable. Every single person that I approached gave me the answers I needed.

In the first trimester, I was indoors and unable to go out. I was vomiting and was so lean. After months of not attending church, I finally attended one day and Immediately I got out of the car, Pastor Remi Agun screamed in excitement. He was like, “Lizzy is back in church!” I was like “People really love me in church.” I felt loved and encouraged.

Experiencing Miracles

A few days after my son’s birth, he had some medical issues and we needed to go back to the clinic. I thought it would cost us a lot and even require surgery. At that time, we weren’t financially buoyant. But God came through and the medications given to him worked.

I stayed surprise-able. I told God to perfect the work he started and he did. My baby turned out fine.

Favourite 2024 Sermon

My favourite sermon title this year has to be “How to Productively Work From Home” which was preached on Mother’s Day by Pastor Debola Moody. Most of the things she said during the sermon haven’t left my memory. It served as a reminder of things I had even forgotten about when it came to productively working from home.

The sermon strengthened me for my current season. She said “Don’t underrate the power of what you have right now. Whatever you have, make use of it very well. You will always have needs but because you have a good God, you have nothing to worry about.

Grow your children from within. Pray over them and don’t just nurture them physically, and If you haven’t prayed about something, you don’t have the right to complain about it.

These were big reminders for me.

Favourite Sycamore Worship Song

There are so many. I really love Sycamore songs and the worship team that makes them possible. My best so far is “Something New”. I really love the song even though I fall short a bit on the lyrics.

I really love the fact that the song reminds me to trust God anew. I have trusted God before but I have to keep trusting him daily.

Upcoming Exciting Event

I’m looking forward to “From Daddy with Love” community outreach and in-reach. This is one of the events I experienced the first time I joined Sycamore Church in August 2022. We got gifts from the “From Daddy with Love” community in December through our then Life Group leader, Mrs Osham.

Shout Outs

I want to start with my husband. He makes volunteering easy for me. He supports me, he encourages my availability to volunteer.

The second person is Pastor Debola Moody. She has a great listening ear and is so observant. God bless her. She is one of the reasons I am enjoying God’s blessings in Sycamore Church. Shout out to PDM!

I want to make a big shout out to Aunty Dolapo Ishola. Coming to church newly, she always made  me feel special. I am not great at starting conversations because I am reserved. I would rather stay by myself and wait for the other person to start a conversation, then I flow with it.

But Aunty Dolapo always comes to me and makes me feel warm enough to come out of my shell. Even when I was pregnant, she was just there for me.

(L-R, Aunty Dolapo, Mr Owokere, Mrs Owokere)

I also want to make a big shout out to the Alukos. They’re a wonderful family. Thank God I met them in church, they’ve been blessing my life. God bless them real big.

(L-R – Mrs Aluko, Mrs Owokere, Mr Owokere, Mr Aluko)

I want to also thank the Gideon-Taiwos. Throughout my pregnancy journey, they were there. God bless them.

To every single person in Sycamore Church that has ever shown my family love, a big shout out to you!

Final Thoughts and Prayers

I pray that Sycamore Community Church grows in all areas, prospers in God’s work and continues to be a reflection of Jesus on earth even as we are about to step into a new year!
