Navigating Life’s Demands With George Laleye

Hello friend, have you ever felt overwhelmed by life’s challenges and longed for a sense of peace, direction or even clarity? I know I have. That’s why I love our Bible Engagement Nights at Sycamore.

They’re like a breath of fresh air, a place to connect with God’s word and God’s people.

Let dive into George Laleye’s experience at our last Bible Engagement Night, themed “Peace in My Pocket.” I was blown away by the insights he shared and this conversation reminded me again that right in the midst of chaos, there’s always a promise of peace waiting for us.

Who is George Laleye?

I’m George Laleye, a designer (graphic, brand identity, UI/UX). I enjoy gospel music. I enjoy action, sci-fi and superpower movies. I enjoy playing video games. I love my wife and I love Jesus.

The last Bible Engagement Night was themed “Peace in my Pocket”, what were your expectations for that night?

Generally speaking, I expected that a particular biblical topic will be treated such that people will have clarity and understanding about what the Bible teaches about that topic. Personally, I expected that I would leave the engagement night with a new, better or deepened understanding of the topic, Peace in my Pocket.

What made you attend the last Bible Engagement Night?

I love conversations about God and what the Bible teaches generally. So for me, it was an opportunity to be in and around God’s word again.

Once I know that the word of God would be taught and conversations about God would be had, I’m up for it.

Good motive! What particular moment made you think “I’m so glad I came”?

That was the moment I got to learn from some of the contributions of the people in my group about a bible passage and a question that was asked. A profound statement was made about how we have to intentionally let God’s peace into our hearts.

“God has given us His peace. He promised.”

“And He doesn’t lie. But we have to deliberately accept it.”

That made me go “that’s a great point” and I decided to keep that in mind.

“God has given us His peace. He promised. And He doesn’t lie. But we have to deliberately accept it.”

What particular situation has been made better by the Bible Engagement Night?

Well, I’ll say I was blessed by the last Bible Engagement Night. We all can do with a reminder of God’s peace. I definitely did need that reminder for my work, family and future.

Having certain expectations about life that don’t turn out the way we want always sucks, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Being reminded of God’s character and the accessibility of His peace was a much needed moment for me.

The past two months have been very tasking and demanding for me and my family in ways that could naturally spark anxiety. However, we are peaceful and joyful.

Peace is indeed a promise God keeps.

Psalm 29:11: “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”
