Day 9: Renewed Connection

Day 9: Renewed Connection

Bible Reading: Exodus 17:1-16

I heard the joke of a man whose wife was always telling him how stupid he is and how poor his choices always are. One day, flipping through his wedding picture album, he’s like ‘she’s right! I make really poor choices’.

Do you know the beauty of being rightly connected? Whether it’s a spouse, a friend, a colleague, a neighbour, a mentor, a boss, a group, or even a church family, God wants us to live in the blessing and beauty of right connections.

None of us was designed to live in isolation. When God was creating the world, he kept saying how good everything was. The one thing that he mentioned wasn’t good was the loneliness of the man. God has in every generation provided connections for people in fulfilment of His purpose.

God sets the solitary in families;

He brings out those who are bound into prosperity;

But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Psalm 68:6 NKJV

God not wanting people alone is not because the people are not spiritual or anything like that- Adam had all of God in that creation moment. It’s nothing about them needing a business deal or some connection to change their life. Adam had no needs in that regard. He had the beautiful pre-sin life in the garden when God said it wasn’t good for him to be alone.

Intricately wired into God’s creation is a design that necessitates that we bring out a beauty and fulfilment in life by mutual existence and connection.

Have you been betrayed and disappointed, let down and frustrated by people, such that now, you no longer particularly value or regard connection, and you strongly desire to live disconnected?

Life has a way of making us want to throw away the baby with the bathwater

I know that when the devil wants to destroy a life he sends people, but the truth is that when God wants to bless a life, He also sends people.

What you need is not disconnection. What you need is sensitivity.

Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.

Proverbs 13:20 NKJV

Let’s believe today that as we wait on God, He will bless us with sensitivity for right connections this year.

Wouldn’t you love to live your life thriving in the blessing of God ordained connection? Wouldn’t you love to be with your very own- in love, peace and in joy, not in scheming and in self-centred seeking?

Christianity is not just about believing. It’s also about belonging.

We read today of Moses, the amazing man of God, who had such a deep relationship with God. In the first part of the chapter, Moses is pulling water out from a rock by striking it. But in the second part, Moses is tired and vulnerable and needing support from Aaron and Hur.  We all need an Aaron and a Hur. But not just that, Aaron and Hur find a deep fulfilment in holding Moses hands up.

I believe that God wants to bless you this year with right on time and right in place’ connections.

Right connection will lead to right conversation, which will lead to right actions.

In prayer today

  1. Ask the Lord to bless and to strengthen the connection that you have
  2. Ask the Lord to bless you with courage and strength to serve Him…
