Bible Reading: Philippians 4:1-9
Has it happened to you that you read up about a great meal on the internet and deeply wanted to try it out. You searched out the recipe and then painfully, there’s that one or two things on the list of ingredients that you just can’t seem to find anywhere.
If you’ve been around an experienced cook though, the story won’t end there. There’s always that one ‘magic’ thing that if you have and know how to use it well, can do everything.
Just like walking into the kitchen is always a story of ingredients you have, how you engage them and what meal you come out with, I think it’s the very same story for life itself. Just like there are ingredients for a great meal, there are ingredients for a great marriage, ingredients for a great ministry, and so on.
Ingredients. Engagement. Output
On the one hand, I feel like just being alive in 2021 and having anything worthwhile you’re trying to do with your life means that you have more than enough ingredients for anxiety and restlessness and worry. I mean, if you want to stay awake all through the night and worry, you’ve got more than enough to worry about.
But on the other hand, because of Jesus, we have all the ingredient we need for a life of peace!
So the question is what are you going to come out of the kitchen with?
Ingredients. Engagement. Output.
My encouragement to you today is that we engage Jesus as the Prince of Peace that He is. As you wait on him today, do you know that you can make this season of your life a story of peace, not worry.
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
God does not want you living your life in anxiety and restlessness and with a troubled mind. God does not want you worrying about things and situations. He wants you kept in ‘perfect peace’.
As we wait on God today, let’s believe for that! Let’s believe for this year to be a year when we’re engaging Jesus and experiencing true peace that is more than anything the world can give or understand.
As Christians, we have peace with God that secures our eternity (Romans 5:1), but more than that, we have the peace of God to live on earth with.
In prayer today
- Pray for your heart to be stayed on Jesus in a stronger way this year. Pray for the peace that flows from that to fill your heart and life
- Take authority in Jesus name over every tendency to worry, and ask the Holy Spirit to keep you reminded of Jesus in all those moments
