Day 5- Courage To Build

Bible Reading: Zechariah 4:1-10

There’s a picture I once saw that represents the poverty of attitude that leads to a life of limitation. A guy who is trying to see over a wall has so many ladders. Rather than standing one of them up to lean over the wall and climb it, he climbs on the pile of flat-lying ladders and is pitifully straining and stretching feeling limited.

Today, my challenge is that we consider whether we do life with a sense of responsibility that is ideal for the life God intends for us to live.

When God declared that His work in creation was finished, I believe that a lot of it was finished within man, but not necessarily finished in tangibility on the earth. For example, God didn’t make mobile phones or aeroplanes, God didn’t make cars or even clothes, but He put the materials in the ground and put the wisdom within man.

Think for a moment of every little detail of intentionality God layered in creation that brings about every technological device that we see. Adam just saw a tree and its shades, God saw all kinds of furniture and paper, and grand organs and doors, and so on. Think about the layers of minerals in the ground. Think about the materials in animals.

God’s mandate to man when He created him positions man to represent God in His expressions, by having dominion on the earth.

God didn’t just bring us into the earth to live like tenants or visitors that are afraid to touch anything. He gave to us a sense of ownership that mandates us to represent Him here by becoming extensions of His creative genius.

When we build what God puts in our hands- whether our own lives, or an enterprise, or a relationship, or a career, or a structure, or a marriage or home, we are giving expression to God’s creative genius that was imparted into us.

We must see ourselves as people with a calling to add constructive value to all that God has given to us.

As we wait on God in this season, let’s believe for the courage to build well this year! Let’s believe that we don’t merely analyse and criticise, but that we are skilled and graced builders who move things from point A to point B.

The devil loves to corrupt and destroy, but God loves to build through us! There are no in-betweens. We’re either living on a constructive front foot, or actively destroying:

Every wise woman builds up her home, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands. Proverbs 14:1 CJB

He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad Matthew 12:30 NKJV

How do you think of your relationships and career and your home and business? Are you merely hoping to get by or see seasons through? Would you believe today for the courage to show up everyday of this year adding constructive value?

Something To Pray

“The hands of Zerubbabel
Have laid the foundation of this temple;
His hands shall also finish it.
Then you will know
That the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you
Zechariah 4:9 NKJV

Would you pray today for the grace to stay through building all that God has committed to your hands this year.

PS: I’m looking forward to our Online SuperSaturday Prayer Gathering tomorrow, Saturday 15th January 2021! We’ll have three streams across the day as we share in a great time of prayer in line with all God’s been doing in us on the Surge journey!

I am a builder. As I lay my hands on projects, I finish it with testimonies of Gods Grace.
