Bible Reading: Matthew 6:19-34
History was one of my favourite courses in Secondary School.
History is clear. It is factual accounts of what actually happened. It’s trustable, once you have your sources right and facts verified.
But how about the future? Stuff about tomorrow? How can you possibly look to what hasn’t yet happened and have any form of assurance or trust in it?
On the surface, thoughts about what’s to come should come with a lot of worry and uncertainty, not assurance or courage.
I don’t know about you, but the reality is that I deal with so many voices about things to come. There are voices that invite me to worry, panic and fear; voices that invite me cave into the pressure of uncertainty, and so on.
But here’s what Jesus says about things to come:
Do not worry about tomorrow… Matthew 6:34 NKJV
Today, as we wait on God, I invite you to find courage in God’s word! We can find courage for tomorrow by trusting a God who holds our lives, and holds tomorrow! As you wait on Him today, lean in your heart to rediscover His love and ability towards your future.
When we hold an undaunted courage about things to come, it’s not a confidence in the things themselves. Really, life is life, and it’s full of so many variables and uncertainties. Our courage is in God- His goodness towards us, His plan for our tomorrow and His ability to see it through.
When it comes to thoughts about tomorrow, you’ll either find courage by trusting God, or live in perpetual worry by merely thinking about everything.
Which do you choose? Courage or worry?
Something To Pray
being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ Philippians 1:6 NKJV
Would you pray a confidence into your heart about what is to come, that is built on God’s goodness, His ability and His commitment to your tomorrow.
