Bible Reading – Mark 15
Thoughts for Reflection:
(v 6 – 40) In our reading today, we walk through the account of Jesus accepting the gruesome death that we deserve, because of His love for us. In reflection today, give thought to remember Jesus and the loving sacrifice that He made for your forgiveness and redemption, and be grateful and honouring of it. Are there ways that you have taken this sacrifice forgranted, or treated it as common?
(v 42 – 47) Notice that Joseph of Arimathea, a man of influence and wealth, used his privileges to treat Jesus with great honour, even when Jesus was dead and it seemed unpopular to be associated with Jesus. Reflect today on what ways you can better use your earthly privileges and influence to honour Jesus.
In Prayer today:
Pilate wanted to please the crowd, so he set Barabbas free. Then he ordered his soldiers to beat Jesus with a whip and nail him to a cross. Mark 15:15 CEV
Pray that you will not do wrong because of peer pressure or the crowd effect. Pray that you will not be swayed against your godly convictions by the evil voices and pressures of this generation.
And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last. Mark 15:37 NKJV
Pray that you will truly and fully live the life that Jesus died for you to live. Pray that His sacrifice for you will not be in vain.
