Day 19: What’s Your Mind Full Of?

Bible Reading: 2 Peter 3

We’re in to the final weekend of our 21 days of Surge!

I couldn’t think of a better time to meditate on these profound and heartfelt thoughts from Peter.

Peter begins our reading today by encouraging us:

Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), that you may be mindful 2 Peter 3:1-2 NKJV, emphasis mine

We all need reminders that stir up our minds so that we’ll be mindful! Better put, we all need to be making conscious decisions of the reminders we are receiving and by implication, the things we are becoming mindful of.

If I told you that a process of filling your mind was already ongoing, what content would you say you’re becoming ‘mindful’ of?

There are things we are being reminded by default. Life has a way of throwing thoughts at us. There is so much negativity in the world. There are a whole lot of things to be fearful and anxious about.

But we don’t have to live in that!

We can create our own narrative. We can create a narrative of faith, life, joy, and peace. We can pick our reminders.

I encourage you to take time today to glance over our meditations for the last eighteen days and be reminded. I encourage you to remind yourself of the things you are in faith for in this period of seeking God. I encourage you to consider how reminders can be an ongoing system for you through this year, and even beyond. Consider, who the ‘Peters’ in your life are that bring you these right reminders and ‘stir up your mind’ and consider how to be giving them even more access and attention.

May you not give in to the default mindedness of a fallen and broken world, but may you be constantly stirred up in your mind to be mindful of the things of God and His purpose for you.

Amen.
