Bible Reading – Mark 13
Thoughts for Reflection:
(v 1-2) Jesus was quick to inform His disciples that the magnificent temple that was getting them awe-struck will one day be totally destroyed. In our service to God and our relationship with Him, it’s easy to get drawn into thinking of the temporary things over and above the eternal. Consider today what temporary things in your relationship with God might be getting more of your attention over the eternal substance of God Himself.
(v 3 – 23) Jesus was pretty clear to His disciples about the not-so-pleasant times that will rock the world in the build up to His second coming. A lot of these signs already abound in our day and age. Look through the verses and highlight for yourself all the specific instructions that He gave His disciples in the face of this, and see for yourself how you can live above being a victim of the times.
In Prayer today:
And Jesus, answering them, began to say: “Take heed that no one deceives you. Mark 13:5 NKJV
Pray that you will not be swayed by the deceptions in this generation. Pray that you will be established and grounded in truth.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. Mark 13:8 NKJV
Pray that your heart will not be shaken as the signs of the end manifest. Pray that even in these difficult days, you will be thriving in God’s plans for your life.
