Day 17: The Wisdom of Jesus 3

Bible Reading – Mark 12

Thoughts for Reflection:

(v 13- 17) In His wisdom, Jesus taught that we give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God. In reflection today, consider what things you owe the state / civil authorities, or your secular institution / organisation, or employer, that you have perhaps not been faithful with. Consider how being a faithful follower of Jesus should make you a better person in society.

(v 41 – 44) Jesus highlighted to his disciples that in a conversation of generosity, He doesn’t merely judge by amounts given, but considers and honours the weight of sacrifice. Reflect today on whether there are expressions of generosity that you have held back with because you considered the amounts insignificant. Have you held back from giving encouragement, conversations, time, skill, resources, or from witnessing to someone because you considered what you have to give little? How does knowing that God honours a heart of sacrifice encourage you today?

In Prayer today:

Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders regarded as unworthy and rejected, This [very stone] has become the chief Cornerstone. Mark 12:10 AMP

Ask the Lord to help you live your life with sensitivity this year. Pray that you will rightly recognize and not discard key people, key opportunities, and key processes that God is bringing your way.

And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Mark 12:17 NKJV

Pray for the wisdom of order in your life. Pray to have good understanding of your faith and secular responsibilities and to walk in wisdom and thrive on all sides.
