Bible Reading: Acts 17
Meditation Focus: Effective Believers
Thoughts for Reflection:
- (v 1-34) From city to city and through different experiences, the message of the gospel preached by Paul stayed the same. Do you ever feel pressure to be a different person, or say different things in certain places or with certain people? What do you learn from Paul and his companions, and their boldness to stick to the truth?
- (v 16-34) Notice Paul’s reasoning with the Athens started by him understanding their context and then finding inroads for conversations. Are we sensitive enough for the right pointers with those in our world to be able to serve them appropriately with the gospel, with encouragement, with hope, with love, etc, or are we merely putting effort in the abstract?
In Prayer Today
So as usual, Paul went there to worship, and on three Sabbaths he spoke to the people. He used the Scriptures Acts 17:2 CEV
Pray to be established in a life that makes worship, the scriptures and the people of God your ‘usual’. Pray that this year, more than ever before, you will enjoy a consistency in the right practices.
These who have turned the world upside down have come here too. Acts 17:6 NKJV
Pray to be a Christian of influence and of impact in your world. Pray that your voice will be clearly heard and that your life will bring constructive value everywhere God has placed you.
