Bible Reading – Mark 5
Thoughts for Reflection:
(v 1 – 20) In our reading today, we see a big play out of how our sense of value informs our choices. The people of the country of Gadarenes asked Jesus to leave their region because in healing the demon possessed man, they lost a number of their pigs. Summarily, they would rather have the pigs than have Jesus. Take a moment to reflect today on whether there are things, people, projects, causes, etc that you have begun to value over the presence of Jesus in your life.
(v 29 – 34) Notice how intentionality makes the difference and attracts the blessing of God. This was more than a touch in the way the whole crowd was touching, it was an intentional touch. Consider today whether there are specific things that you can do with more intentionality as you seek God. Are you fasting and praying as a routine or with intentional pursuit? Are you working and leading your life with intentionality?
In Prayer today:
So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed. Mark 5:20 NIV
Pray to live your life in a very missional way this year! Ask the Lord to help you to be loud and bold about your witness for Jesus, and that it will impact strongly on people in your world.
Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction Mark 5:29 NKJV
Believe God today for healing in every part of your body, and that you will live this year in good health with a right functioning body.
