Day 1: Life in The Rhythms of Obedience

Bible Reading: Jonah 1

Thoughts for Reflection:

V 1 – 9 – Notice how Jonah’s act of disobedience created troubling circumstances for him and those around him. Consider carefully before God whether there are areas you are either walking in disobedience or delayed obedience.

V 10 – 16- Notice the courage that it took for Jonah’s co-travelers to do a right, but difficult thing in throwing Jonah overboard. Reflect deeply today on whether there are right steps that you have been hesitating or fearful to take because they seem difficult, and what support you can take advantage of to do what is right.

In Prayer Today:

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” Jonah 1:1-2 NKJV

Pray for the Lord to grant you clarity of His leading for your life this year. Pray to know the burdens on God’s heart for this season. Pray to be clear on where God will have you be, and what He will have you do per time.

Nevertheless the men rowed hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea continued to grow more tempestuous against them. Jonah 1:12 NKJV

Pray that the Lord will help you channel your effort rightly this year. Pray against wasted effort, and vain and draining pursuits that will not amount to anything.
