Bible Reading: Genesis 2:1-17
Happy new month and Welcome to Surge Rediscover!
I’m trusting that the next few days will help us put the light back on some of the very foundational things that we so often get moved away from in the busyness of life.
Do you know that feeling of getting to the agreed location of a previously fixed appointment and not meeting the other person? You wait a minute or two and the person still isn’t there. Five minutes past the agreed time. Ten. Fifteen. Still no show.
I hate it!
What picture do you have in mind when you think about your life and God’s working to you?
That he has just arrived some years late, things had already gone so bad and then he’s scampering and hustling trying to correct and set things right?
Genesis not only tells us a story of the beginning of the world, it also shows us a pattern with which God does things.
Would we notice today that He made Eden before he made Adam! He didn’t get Adam on the scene and then start scampering around to fix a plan and fix a life for Him. In fact, Adam was made on the last day of productive creation when everything else was already made!
In God’s design, Eden precedes Adam.
Truly, there were details that God began to work with Adam on the scene, there was responsibility that God put in Adams hands to till the garden and all that, but it’s really beautiful to sort the difference between a God who already had it all figured and set versus a God who is trying to figure and sort things out.
Do you know that before God brings you into a season, He already has an Eden set for you?
Do you know that before God opened the door for you to relocate or start school or take on the new employment or start your marriage, he already had an Eden for you?!
Eden comes with God given opportunity for productivity, it comes with a deep sense of purpose, it comes with the means of sustenance and thriving, it comes with God ordained relationships, it comes with supernatural wisdom for the time and place, and it comes with divine supply for every expectation!
Rediscover and remind yourself that God already has an Eden for this season of your life! I believe God has a COVID-19 Eden for us and a Post-COVID-19 Eden too!
God doesn’t arrive the appointment late! He got here before us. He knows how His children will be sustained; He knows how we will be fruitful and thriving in this season; He knows how our relationships will be blessed and graced… Eden precedes Adam!
Maybe you’re in a significant season change in life- marriage, relocation, a new form of responsibility, and so on. Would you remember that your Eden precedes you!
And yes, Eden is also a place of temptation and of voices of distraction.
But because of Jesus, there’s more than enough to be overwhelmed with- there’s every other fruit in the garden for the one that he asked that you don’t touch.
Your Eden is so great a reminder of the love and commitment of God to you!

This is a strong reminder of (and pointer to) God’s intentionality and provision. His love for us is a Father’s perfect love. He has prepared (and is preparing) us for the things He has prepared for us.
Thank you.
