Bible Reading: 2 Kings 4:1-7
When it comes to a conversation about more, I think there are two sides to it and both must be handled with all diligence.
There is what God does, and there is what we do.
I believe that the more we speak about is really not anything we can make happen by ourselves. I believe that it really has to be down to a supernatural working of God. I believe in the power and potency of the blessing of God! Like we often say, there is nothing a good surfer can do (no matter how good he is) to create waves. It is God who does that!
In our reading today, we read of the supernatural continuous flow of oil for the late prophet’s wife. That’s stuff that only God can make happen! How does a remnant jar of oil fill so many vessels without running out?
But for all that we see in the first God part of the conversation about more, it is important that we note the second side to the conversation: the supernatural flow of oil happened to the extent that the woman provided space for it. She was the one that went to get vessels, and it was based on the number of her vessels that the oil flowed.
Only God can fill the vessels. But it takes people to bring the vessels.
God fills the spaces. But people create the spaces.
I believe both sides of the conversation are just as important in the lead up to the more that God calls us to.
I think we must remind ourselves as believers to live wide and not narrow. When it comes to things of our confession of faith and obedience to the Lord, I think we must be absolutely narrow and locked up, but when it comes to things of approaches and methods, and the wisdom of each season, I believe we must be widening the space for fresh applications of our faith in Jesus.
The reality is that the oil always had the supernatural power in it to flow, but it only flowed when there were human-provided vessels to flow into.
Are you creating space in your life for more?
Do your relationship structures look like they can handle increase or are they merely suited to a get-by inconsequential life?
Can your financial discipline and time management carry you in a season of more? Are you building leadership skills that look like leadership of a business the size you see God bringing you into? Are you disciplined with your spiritual disciplines? Are you allowing the Holy Spirit work on your attitudes and character? What and how are you consciously learning about your career and field, about marriage and relationships, and about life generally?
Remember, it is to the extent that we provide the space that the oil flows.

SOMETHING TO PRAY
And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:10 NKJV
