Ever wondered if that inner voice is really God’s guidance or just your own thoughts? Or maybe you’ve questioned whether God’s plan aligns with your own desires. I know I have!
But thanks to the Knowing God’s Will series at Sycamore, I’ve discovered six empowering ways to think about God’s will for my life. These insights are helping me make better choices and are filling me with the confidence to continue this journey of aligning my life with God’s will.
Let’s explore these six ways together:
God’s Plan is Good for Me
One thing I realised is that God’s will for me isn’t just good—it’s better than mine, scratch that, it’s the best. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us He’s got only good thoughts for us.
When I started trusting in His goodness, I began to see even the hard times differently, knowing they’d lead somewhere good.
His Will Brings Me Closer to Him
I used to think God’s will was all about what I was supposed to “do.” But then I discovered that it’s also about who I become. God is constantly shaping me, drawing me closer to His heart, and making me more like Him.
So now, I try to ask, “How can I be more like You through this?”
Growing in God’s Will is Part of the Journey
Growth isn’t always comfortable, but I remind myself of Abraham’s journey. God started with him where he was, doubts and all, but He didn’t leave him there.
Abraham eventually became the Father of Faith. God’s will helps us grow by challenging us, but that growth makes us stronger and more grounded in Him.

God’s Will Unfolds One Step at a Time
If you’re like me, you might want the full plan up front, but I’ve learned that God shows us just what we need, one step at a time.
It’s like a journey of a child walking with their father and he has so many surprises planned on the way. I can trust Him without having all the details, which builds my faith even when I don’t see the whole picture.
He’s Got My Back
God’s will isn’t something I have to figure out alone. He equips me with everything I need along the way. Philippians 1:6 reminds me that God, who started this journey with me, will carry it to the end.
Knowing He’s got my back brings me peace as I keep going on this journey of walking in His will for my life.
It’s My Choice to Respond
God gives us the choice. He won’t push His will on us, but when I say “yes,” I get to experience His presence and guidance. It’s my choice to trust Him, and every time I do, I see His faithfulness in ways I never expected.
In Conclusion…
Aligning with God’s will is a journey, one where I’m learning to let go and let Him lead. It brings a peace that I can’t explain, and I know He’s guiding me toward a purpose only He can fulfill.
I hope these thoughts I have shared will encourage you to live in trust and let God’s plan unfold in your life too knowing that His thoughts towards you are thoughts of peace and not evil to bring you to an expected end!
